We all have heard at some point or another about the Beautiful Bastard series. We walk into stores and see the books in book stands and with bright colored covers that catch our eye. It all started with a Beautiful Bastard. All of us women couldn't get enough of Bennett Ryan and his love/hate relationship with Chloe Mills. Book after book we fell in love with this series and we have to thank the two lovely ladies behind the pen name Christina Lauren. Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings are now currently showcasing a new beautiful character that is surely going to win all our hearts. Beautiful Player is set to release on October 29, 2013. I got lucky enough to have a short Q&A with these awesome ladies! Enjoy! :)
How do you stay
motivated/inspired to continue writing?
We are incredibly lucky in that we have
probably fifty book ideas tucked away in our computer. And, there is almost
nothing more satisfying than finishing a book and sending it off to our editor,
knowing we get to dig into a new idea soon.
This isn’t to say that there aren’t
hard days where the words just won’t come—there absolutely are. But having two
of us helps, too. We can bounce ideas around, distract each other by being
ridiculous, or insist that the other takes a little break to read, play, get
refreshed. So far we’ve been lucky enough to get to do this for a living. It’s
still a dream for us.
How does it feel to
walk into a store and seeing your books in the racks?
Honestly, that thrill never goes away.
BASTARD came out nearly eight and a half months ago, but we still go visit that
book in Target whenever we can. It really is the best, most amazing feeling.
How is this real life?
Is there any book
series that you ladies love to read?
We are avid readers and read a ton, but
here are the ones that have owned us recently:
Erotica: The BEYOND series by
Kit Rocha
Young Adult: The Curse Workers series
by Holly Black, the Graceling series by Kristen Cashore, the Girl of Fire and
Thorns series by Rae Carson
Last but not least,
what other career path would you have chosen if you weren't an author?
We did have other careers—and still do!
Lo is a neuroscientist, but has gone down to part-time at her job as a
researcher. Christina works in a junior high counseling office because she
loves working with kids that age!
